K was instrumental in the development of "The Institute for Writing and Illustrating Children's Books." After attending one of K's workshops I was not only hooked on writing, but hooked on workshops. I was at the time affiliated with Rhodes College in Memphis. Rhode's Special Studies Department seemed a more than appropriate location for the birth of a creative program for participants interested in writing or illustrating children's books. I cherish the many years that I served as program director. This remains my favorite project ever and I will forever be grateful to K for planting the seed.
I took Kay's "Stand Up Commedian Wanted--You" Workshop at Wordwrights, our Christian Writing Group in Oklahoma City, and found it most helpful.
By helping me evaluate life's experiences from an eternal perspective through some writing exercises, Kay helped me realize that my loving Heavenly Father is in control and orchestrating all things for my good. Therefore, I can lighten up by trusting Him and looking for the humor in otherwise embarrassing or devastating situations. We were created to celebrate and dance with our creator.
Kay's "Art of Creative Living" workshop liberated me to unleash the child within me to dream and play again. She challenged me through writing exercises to rediscover what delighted me as a child and reconnect with that passion of living free--unafraid of failing or fitting into someone else's mold.
